Sunderban National Park

The Sunderbans, an unique Mangrove area, lie in the state West Bengal and form the most southern part of the Ganges Delta, both in India and in Bangladesh. In West Bengal, the mangrove forests cover an area of around 4264 square km, of which 2585 square km belong to the Sunderbans tiger reserve. The park is nominated in the list of UNESCO world heritage sites in the category of world natural heritage sites in 1987.

Sunderbans form the largest mangrove areas of the world and are famous for the natural habitat of the Royal Bengal Tiger. The park is opened the entire year, but the best time to visit is from October to May.
