Day 1 - Arrive Hyderabad

When you arrive at the Delhi International airport you will have a reception at the airport prior to your transfer to the hotel. Hyderabad is the modern and pulsating capital of the state Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad was founded in 1590 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah (reign 1565-1611), the ruler of the Dekkan-Sultanats Golkonda. The city is well known for its monuments and mosque out of the medieval and the Saracen culture and the Mughal and colonial architecture. Today, it is also one of the largest metropolises of India.

Day 2 - Hyderabad

After breakfast you will tour the city and your first stop is at the 150-foot-tall Char Minar, the "Arc de Triomphe of the East" and landmark of Hyderabad. Afterwards you will visit the powerful fort city Golkonda (13th century) that sits on a steep granite mountain, west of Hyderabad. From 1518 to 1519, it was the capital of the seven Qutb Shahi kings who enlarged the fort and reinforced it through granite blocks. The palaces and garden areas, the baths, mosque and mausoleums are impressive examples of the period of the Qutb Shahi kings' reign. The region was famous for its diamond manufacturing and the walls of the women in the palace were adorned with diamonds. When Aurangzeb’s troops took the fort in 1687, the legendary Kohinoor-diamond was stolen; but then in 1850 it was used as compensation for war losses to the British crown. Queen Victoria had the diamond recut from its original 186-carat stone to its current size of 108.93 carats. In addition, you will visit the Salarjung (national) museum which houses Indian and European works of art. You will stay overnight in Hyderabad.
