Andaman and Nicobars are a group of 572 islands and islets-otherwise termed an archipelago-- that spread themselves over a stretch of over 350 miles (700 kilometers) like a string of pearls in the bay of Bengal. There you’ll find the beautiful beaches you’re seeking, the best diving in India off the deep coral reefs, and the forests that are home to a various array of birds.

During your tour of the Andaman Island, you will visit Port Blair which is the capital and entrance point of the Andaman Islands. A very busy city, Port Blair offers all of the modern amenities a traveler needs, and is an ideal starting point on your tour of the archipelago. You’ll also get to visit the Cellular Jail which once was a British jail. It illustrates the misery, condemnations and injustice that the Indian freedom fighters had to endure when imprisoned. Every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday a presentation is made at the Jail which salutes the brave patriots. The Navy Museum includes exhibits of more than 350 species of marine life. It also includes handicrafts, art objects, and textiles of the local tribes. You’ll also get to visit the Chatham Mill, which is the largest sawmill in Asia.
Visa: You must have a special 30-day visa to have access to the Andaman Islands. This visa will allow entry to Port Blair (Municipal Area), Havelock Island, Long Island, Neil Island, Mayabunder, Diglipur, Rangat (also overnight stay possible) as well as Jolly Bouy, South Cinque, Red Skin, Mount Harriet and Madhuban (only day trips). The Nicobar islands are blocked to non-Indian visitors.
Arrival: You can reach the Andaman Islands by air or ship.
By Air: There are daily operating flights from Chennai (Madras) and Kolkata (Calcutta) to Port Blair. The flights takes 2 hours.
By Ship: Regular ship services are available to Port Blair from the Indian cities of Kolkata (Calcutta), Chennai (Madras), and Vishakapatnam (Vizag). They have air-conditioned cabins for first -lass tourists and an air-conditioned Lounge hall with push back seats for tourist class accommodation. Rates vary according to the type of accommodation as well as the package chosen. Sailing between Chennai and Port Blair takes 60 hours; between Kolkata and Port Blair 66 hours; and between Vishakapatnam and Port Blair 56 hours. The frequency of ship services fro Chennai and Kolkata to Port Blair is about 4 times a month, and from Vishakapatnam once a month.
The Temperatures lie between 23 and 30 degrees centigrade. The rainy season is from May to October. The best time to travel to the Andamn Islands is from December to April.

Chennai/Kolkata - Port Blair - Chennai/Kolkata
Day 1 - Arrive Port Blair
Arrival at Port Blair in the morning and transfer to hotel of your choice. After a short rest, you will visit Port Blair. While in town you will visit the Cellular Jail, Chatham Saw Mill, Forest Museum, Anthropoligical Museum, Fisheries (Marine) Museum, and Naval Marine Museum (Smaudrika). You will stay overnight in a beach resort in Port Blair.
Day 2 - Excursion to Mount Harriet and Corbyn’s Cove Beach
After breakfast, you will travel to Mt. Harriet which at 1100 feet high or 365 meters high is the second highest peak in Andaman. From here you will go on a trek to Kalapathar, a nature-lover’s dream come true as you journey on a trail of exotic flora and fauna, endemic birds and butterflies. In the late afternoon, you will go on an excursion to Corbyn’s Cove Beach (about five miles from Port Blair). Corbyn’s Cove Beach is the perfect example of a romantic beach, fringed by coconut palms. It is ideal for swimming, sunning, snorkeling and scuba diving. After your leisurely rest at the beach, you will return to your hotel in Port Blair for an overnight stay.
Day 3 - Excursion to Red Skin and Jolly Buoy Islands
After breakfast you will travel to the Red Skin and Jolly Buoy Islands by boat (about 30 miles from Port Blair). You’ll need to pack your bathing suit because on these fascinating islands you will be able to experience some of the world’s best diving, snorkeling, deep see fishing and sea kayaking. After an exhilarating day, you’ll board your boat to go back to your hotel in Port Blair for an overnight stay.
Day 4 - Port Blair - Havelock Island
You’ll have an early morning (5:30 a.m.) departure by inter-island ferry to Havelock Island (33 miles by sea from Port Blair). Not only will you enjoy the ocean and beautiful beaches, but also experience a rustic setting , staying in beach tents or a comfortable beach resort surrounded by sandy beaches and lush green forests. You’ll settle in for an overnight stay at Havelock Island.
Day 5 - Havlock Island - Port Blair
During the afternoon you will return to Port Blair, and be transferred to your hotel. Once you’ve settled in, you’ll have the afternoon to visit the Andaman Water Sports Complex offering water and adventure sports like water-skiing, speed boats, water scooters, para-sailing, wind-surfing, etc. You’ll stay overnight in Port Blair.
Day 6 - Excursion to Ross Island and Chidiya Tapu
After breakfast you’ll travel to Ross Island, where the British Government ruled the whole Andaman and Nicobar Islands. You’ll have time to enjoy the nature walk on this island where you’ll see wild deers, peacocks and other small animals. In the afternoon, you will travel to Chidiya Tapu (15 miles from Port Blair), to see the various species of birds. This island offers not only lush green mangroves and beautiful beaches, but is a place where you can enjoy a breath-taking sunset. After dark, you’ll return to your hotel in Port Blair for an overnight stay.
Day 7 - Transfer to airport for the flight to Kolkata or Chennai.
You will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Kolkata or Chennai. And then you’ll be on your way back home.
