Day 1 - Welcome to Delhi!

You will arrive at the Delhi International Airport. Delhi is India's second largest metropolis next to Mumbai, which is located in the northern part of the country. The architectural features in the city are similar to those which can be seen in Athens, Rome and Istanbul.

Day 2 - Exploring Delhi

Your first day you will explore the old and new city of Delhi. You’ll be mesmerized by the 100-foot, red-stone boundary walls of Red Fort built during the 17th century. Opposite this ancient structure is the Jama Masjid, built in 1656. Found in front of the Jama Masjid is the 1656 AD construction of red sandstone and white marble. It is the largest mosque in India where 20,000 people can pray together. You will also tour the town in a Rickshaw. Along the streets of old Delhi you will see the Raj Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi (Father of the Nation) Memorial, which is close to the river Yamuna. Next, you will visit the Humayun Tomb of the second Mughal emperor, which was completed by his wife during the 16th century. Shahjahan had the vision for the structure of the Taj Mahal. The Qutub Minar, a 220-foot tower made by one of the first Muslim leaders in India, was built between 1199 and 1368 AD. It runs counter to Rashtrapati Bhawan, the residence of the President of India. There you’ll see the buildings of government and parliament and India Gate which is 130-foot wall built in memory of the soldiers who died during the First World War.

Day 3 - Delhi - Haridwar - Rishikesh (By Train)

You will have an early morning breakfast, after which you will be picked up from your hotel and brought to the railway station to board the Express Shatabdi train for Haridwar (departure time is 6:50 A.M.). You will arrive Haridwar and finally be transferred to Rishikesh by car (13 miles). Upon your arrival in Rishikesh you will be transferred to your hotel. Rishikesh is the center of the Rishis, the holy men. Rishikesh is well known through its many Ashrams and yoga centers. Today it is a meeting place for the European, who learn yoga and meditation and study Hindu religion and philosophy.

Your afternoon tour begins with a walk through town which lies at the foot of the Shiwalik mountain range and the bank of the holy river Ganges. On your way pass you will pass through the Laxman Jhula cliff bridge and different Hindu temples, where you will learn the meaning of this place in the Hinduism. Also, you will visit the Omkaranda Ashram also well known as Durga Mandir where classes in Hindi, Sanskrit, music and classical dance are offered. You will then visit the Swarg Ashram, one of the oldest Ashrams in Rishikesh. Today it is home to a large organization that offers many activities. Later in the evening, you will attend an Aarti, a prayer ceremony in the Parmath Ashram, directly at the holy bank of the river Ganges. Today the Parmath Ashram is a large organization that supports schools, hospitals, and ecological projects. You will enjoy lunch, dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel in Rishikesh.

Day 4 - Rishikesh - Rudraprayag (140 km)

After breakfast, you will drive to Rudraprayag. On the way, you will see Deoprayag that stands at 1700-feet and is a small place at the junction of the Ganges source rivers Bhagirathi and Alaknanda. After your arrival in Rudraprayag, you will visit the important Shiva temple. In this extremely holy place, you will spend the night in a simple tourist hotel.

Day 5 - Rudraprayag - Badrinath

After the breakfast you will travel along Alaknanda about 98 miles, and have a late afternoon arrival in Badrinath an important Hindu holy place that shares a boundary with Tibet. You will have an overnight stay in the simple tourist hotel.

Day 6 - Excursion to Vasundhara Waterfall (6 km, around 3 hours)

In the early morning you will experience the morning prayers in the temple of Badrinath. The pilgrimage of Hindus is not regarded as complete, until they worship in the temple of Badrinath. After the breakfast trip you will travel about three miles to Mana, which is last village before the boundary of Tibet. You will take an easy trek into a side valley to the impressive 366-foot Vasundhara waterfall. You will stay overnight in Badrinath.

Day 7 - Badrinath - Ghangharia

After a morning temple visit trip to Govindghat your baggage will be transferred for the two- day excursion on mules (about 26 miles). You will trek through the Hemganga valley, the pilgrimage place for Sikhs as well as for Hindus. After about an eight-hour moderately difficult trekking with a constant climb, you will reach Ghangharia (about 10,000 feet). Overnight you will stay in a very simple tourist Bungalow or in tents.

Day 8 - Trekking to Sikh Holy Shrine, Hemkund(12 km, 5-6 hours)

Early in the morning you will trek to Hemkund (14,199 feet) which is a steep, moderately difficult climb. Hemkund is a lovely mountain lake at which lies the shrine (Gurdwara) of Guru Gobind Singh. You will climb down after lunch. You will have an overnight stay in Ghangharia.

Day 9 - Ghangharia - Joshimat

Early in the morning you will go on the almost-four-mile trek to the "Valley of the Flowers". There are no residents of the Valley of the Flowers, so the valley is an oasis of peacefulness. You will see up to 1,000 different species of flowers, plants and medicinal herbs. The entire valley looks like a living carpet of blossoms lying at the foot of the snow-covered Himalayas. In the afternoon, you will take a moderately difficult trek back to Ghangharia. From there you will drive about 12 miles to Joshimat and stay overnight in a tourist bungalow.

Day 10 - Excursion to Auli to view Mount Nanda

Early in the morning you will take a short excursion to Auli (8262 feet), one of the few ski zones of India (13 miles). In the summer, Auli, because of its fascinating panorama, is a popular destination for Indian families. Here you may go trekking (moderately difficult) through dense primary forest to the Gorison Meadows (9800 feet), presenting a beautiful viewpoint of the Garhwal Himalaya. Here you will see the Mount Nanda Devi (25,639 feet). You will then have a late evening drive down to Rishikesh for an overnight stay.

Day 11 - Joshimat - Rishikesh (252 km)

After breakfast, you will drive to Rishikesh where you will be transferred to your hotel. That evening you will explore the Hindu temples and attend religious ceremony on the bank of river Ganges.

Day 12 - From Rishikesh, to Haridwar, to Delhi (By Train)

After your early morning yoga classes you will then check out of the hotel and drive to Haridwar, one of the holiest places of Hindus in India. Haridwar is located at the foot of the Sivalik Mountain, which is also among the holiest places of Hindus in India. The fairy tale legends tell about gods and kings who discovered their true selves at the Har Ki Pauri Ghat, a sanctuary which carries an impression of the foot of God Vishnu. Every twelve years the religious meeting "Kumbha Mela" and every six years, "Ardh Kumbha " are held at Har Ki Pauri Ghat.

Every year, millions visit Haridwar who come here to bathe in Ganges. Your trip to Haridwar will really surprise you. First, you will visit the Sapt Rishi Ashram and the Sapt Sarovar. The Hindu mythology says that here Ganges itself divided into seven rivers, in order not to disrupt the seven Rishis (sapt) occupied by their prayers. Later, you will visit the holy temple of Daksha Mahadev and Sati Kund, located in the resort Kankhal. Sati Kund is the place, according to Hindu mythology, that Sati, the first wife of Lord Shiva, died. Also, you will visit the Maya Devi temple on the hill Bilwa Parvat. By riding the antenna cable you will enjoy a wonderful view of Haridwar. Finally, you will visit the Maya Devi temple on hill Bilwa Parvat, after which you will board your train to Delhi (at 6 pm) and spend the night at the hotel in Delhi.

Day 13 - Final Stop: Delhi

You will be transferred to the International Airport for your journey home.
