The population will be lower during the end of September or beginning of October the street because of strong snowfall. The trip with the bus jeep lasts 2 days (10-12 hours per day) with a night stop in Sarchu/Pang (4500 ms highly) half way on the trip. Lodging in Sarchu is in tents with other facilities and joint toilet.

3. Will we definately be able to visit Ladakh?
Ladakh is in Jammu & Kashmir, but is an autonomous region with 2 districts. If security is a problem, your trip will be focused on the mountains and diverted from problem areas. AMS (acute Mountain Sickness) and the more dangerous versions (HAPE etc) are problems you need to be concerned about during your trip. The persons in the region (Buddhisten and Muslim) live in harmony and Ladakh is a very peaceful place.
4. Which problems should I be concerned about during my trip?
The largest problem is the altitude. On the Manali-Leh Highway, one can go many kilometers without seeing a person or another vehicle. Rain is rare and the vegetation sparse. The height on the Manali-Leh Highway ranges from 2200 feet to over 11000 feet in the remainder of Ladakh. Leh itself is about 11000 feet. Based on this height, the oxygen content of the air is appears slighter and AMS happens frequently. The symptoms of AMS are headache, Atemlosigkeit, cough, little appetite,, restlessness, insomnia, tiredness, etc. It’s best to travel to Manali, which during the two-day trip you will acclimatize to the altitude. Sometimes. if one stands 20-30 minutes for photographs, the altitude will become worse. If you feel dizzy, sick or weak, you should stand only for 5-10 minutes at a time. If you fly to Ladakh, the problems with AMS do not appear during the first 36 hours, and then can hit you suddenly. The medical advice is during the first 24 hours to rest and remain total quiet and after that partially quiet, dependent on your physical state. After that you can go sightseeing. If you are planning on trekking, it’s recommended to say in Leh for five days before going on a trek. While at this altitude, it’s recommended that you drink 2-3 liters of water each day. If you have acute AMS< you should see a physician and get Diamox. Since you are at a higher altitude, the sun will be closer and the days warmer. A large hat and sun protection cream are recommended. In the high season July to August, getting airfare is harder so you must be ready to travel via the highway. Ladakh is known for hours of rain. Many hotels do not have generators, so during the night it is very dark, and still.
