Manas Wildlife Sanctuary

The Manas wildlife sanctuary lies in the state of Assam at the foot of the Himalayas and passes up to the principality of Bhutan . The beautiful park, that was popular earlier under the name North Kamrup, offers a mixture of rain forest, grass landscape and river landscape and extends to an area of 391 km². There live among others tigers, elephants, rhinoceros, wild buffaloes, leopards and rare black panthers in the nature reserve in the southeastern of the river Manas. It was nominated in the list of world natural heritage in 1985.
