Private car round trip: Cochin - Munnar - Periyar - Kumarakom - Cochin
Day 1 - Arrival Cochin
Arrival to Cochin airport. Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Afterwards go for city excursion. Cochin is the main harbour city of State Kerala and commercial capital as well. Cochin also acts as the Navy Headquarters of southern India. Visit St. Francis Church, built in 1503 by the Portuguese. Mattancherry Palace or " Dutch Palace " built by the Dutch and later on handed over to the local king. At the harbour, you can see unique Chinese fishing nets, which marks the visit of Chinese people in Cochin. Also visit the Jewish Synagogue, built in 1558. Around the Synagogue, you can buy many antique things.
Evening you visit a Kathakali Dance Show, a typical dance drama old over 400 years that is based on old legends. The dancers wearing painted fantastic costumes colour their faces with red, green and black colors. Each gesture and movement has entirely special meaning. Return to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2 - Cochin - Munnar
After breakfast, drive to Munnar. Munnar is 1800 m high Hill station and surrounded by stretch of mountains covered with tea plantations. Munnar is the trade center for special tea, lying on one of the world's highest cultivating areas. You can see the rare Nilgiri Tahr (a type of mountain goats), enjoy the panorama, or climb the cliffs of Anamudi (2695 meters), south India 's highest mountain tip. Overnight stay in Munnar.
Day 3 - Munnar
After breakfast, go for a sight seeing tour of Munnar. Visit Mattupetty Lake and Dam. Alos visit Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, Tea Plantations, and Blossom gardens. Overnight stay in Munnar.
Day 4- Munnar - Periyar (Thekkady)
After breakfast, drive to Thekaddy. This trip through the mountains covered with the spice plantations and tea plantations will definitely reenergize your senses. After arrival, transfer to hotel for rest and refreshment. Instead, you can go for Trekking (optional) in Periyar National Park. Late afternoon enjoy boat trip in Periyar Wildlife National Park. This park is one of the world's best to see elephants in their natural surroundings. Before the sun, proceeds to set you can see with some good fortune not only elephant, but rather also other wild animals at the bank of Periyar Lake. You can also have a pleasant walk in the markets. Return to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 5 - Thekkady - Kumarakom (Backwaters)
After breakfast, drive to Kumarakom. On the way, visit a Spice Farm (optional), where you can see various spice plantations such as c ardamom, cinnamon, pepper, peppermint, clove, vanilla, ginger, chili, tea and coffee plantations. Arrival and transfer to hotel. Late afternoon go for boat trip through Lagoons in Backwaters. Overnight stay in Kumarakom.
Day 6 - Kumarakom
Day at leisure. Enjoy the backwaters of Kerala amidst the lush green environment of palm trees. Alternatively, you can have special Kerala massage and other Ayurvedic treatments in Ayurvedic center of your hotel. This will definitely rejuvenate your senses. Overnight stay in Kumarakom.
Day 7 - Kumarakom - Cochin
After breakfast, drive to Cochin. Arrival and transfer to Hotel. Rest of the day is free to explore the city on your own until your transfer to airport for onward journey.
Note: You can increase the number of days in Munnar (hill station) and Kumarakom (Backwaters) depending upon your choice. After arrival in Cochin, you can opt for spending a couple of days in Goa for beach holidays instead of going back to your country.
